The governing body of the University students is the Students Council. Students representatives participate in the General Assembly, the Academic Council, the Faculty and College Councils. Students research work is mainly aimed at accomplishing their theses and it is related to the research projects and developments of the corresponding faculties. Outstanding students have defended their theses in Western European universities. The Students Council supports a volleyball club, a movie club and a chess club. Different sport and entertainment tournaments as well as trips and expeditions are organised. The Council is the co-organiser of conferences and its representatives take part in international students seminars and projects.

The University has its own students’ hostels (1,383 beds), a canteen, health and stomatological service. It also owns the Park hotel (145 double rooms), which is situated near the sea, and holiday recreational facilities for the teaching and administrative staff in the mountains and at the seaside.
