ALGORITHM OF BLOOD DONATION BEHAVIOR TOWARDS COVID-19 CONTACT PERSONS
ABSTRACT: Introduction: There is no real prognosis for the impact of a viral pandemic on the collection and need for blood and blood components. Although a reduction in the need for erythrocyte concentrates (EC) is expected, a significant deficiency of other blood components (especially platelets) may occur due to a deficiency of healthy blood donors. In addition, the situation may affect the availability of staff in blood centers and the fulfillment of requests for blood components from medical establishments.
The aim of the present study is to develop an algorithm for blood donation behavior towards COVID-19 contact persons.
Material and methods: The behavior of 1000 blood donors during the pandemic was studied through an anonymous survey. The results were processed with SPSS v. 20.0, using variational, comparative and correlation analyzes. For significance level we assume p <0.05.
Results: The associated risk of infection depends on the level of exposure, which in turn will determine the type of monitoring. Contact persons are divided into those with high and low risk. Determining the degree of exposure can be difficult and requires the person to be interviewed / interviewed.
Conclusion: Developed for three groups of measures aimed at employees of the blood center, donors visiting the blood center and measures concerning medical personnel receiving blood and blood components in the RCTH.
